The Green Chamber Appoints Two New Board MembersThe Green Chamber: Greater Phoenix added two leaders in the Valley’s green economy to its Board of Directors prior to the holidays. Newly elected Board members Ron Vokoun of Mortenson Construction and Marc Sobelman of ECOtality North America will better help represent the diversity of local companies committed to the low carbon economy, said the Chamber’s Board President, Leslie Lindo. Vokoun brings over twenty years of experience in the construction industry, with a heavy emphasis on renewable energy manufacturing facilities like the Gestamp Solar Steel Manufacturing facility in Surprise, and water/wastewater facilities like the 24th Street Water Treatment Plant project. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction with a certification of Designated Design Build Professional by the Design-Build Institute of America, and has managed projects in seven different states as well as Japan. Sobelman is in charge of planning and implementing electric vehicle charging station infrastructure in the Phoenix and Tucson markets for the EV Project being funded through the Department of Energy and ECOtality. As ECOtality’s Arizona ‘go to’ person, he works with stakeholders in the public and private sectors to ensure the greatest accessibility for EV drivers. Marc is also the veteran of three technology start-up companies in the Phoenix area, making him an ideal fit for the growing Green Chamber. He holds a BA in Marketing and Management from Northern Arizona University. “Studies show that ‘greening’ construction and alternative fuel vehicles are two key opportunities to create good paying jobs in industries that can be centered in Arizona. Marc and Ron bring the sorts of real world skills to our organization that will help the Green Chamber be a catalyst for the creation of these green collar jobs through their understanding of the needs of these industries and their business acumen,” said Lindo.
