Green Chamber to Host Phoenix Mayoral ForumCandidates Will Discuss Vision for Creating a Sustainable Economy Aug. 3rd, 6:30 to 8:00 pm | Burton Barr Library | 1221 N. Central Ave. Phoenicians will have a special opportunity to hear from the candidates vying to lead the city on the evening of August 3rd. The Mayoral Candidates Forum, hosted by The Green Chamber, will feature all the major candidates for Phoenix’s top office in the one forum solely devoted to building a more diverse and sustainable economy. “Studies show green jobs are growing at double the rate of non-green jobs across the United States over the last several years. With our sluggish economy in light of the real estate meltdown, this is an opportunity for residents of Phoenix and surrounding communities to meet the candidates and hear their visions for generating jobs that are less susceptible to our historical boom and bust cycle,” said Board President Leslie Lindo. The Forum will be moderated by Kris Mayes, former Chair of the Arizona Corporation Commission, who was recently named to head the Program on Law and Sustainability for the Sandra Day O'Conner College of Law at ASU. “Our members believe the Valley is the perfect place to build “green” industries that create broad-based prosperity while preserving our quality of life for future generations,” said Board Vice President Phil Allsopp. “We’re looking forward to working hand-in-hand with the next mayor to ensure business owners, entrepreneurs and companies understand that ‘green’ means business and ‘sustainability’ means opportunity.” The free event will take place Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. For registration information, please click here. For sponsorship information, please click here. FOR MORE INFORMATION:
