Committee: Communications/Marketing

The Communications Committee promotes the visibility of the Green Chamber.

Seeking committee members who:

Chair: Monique Whitney

Co-founder of Felice + Whitney PR, a Phoenix-based boutique marketing firm known for creative results and with a heart for the industrial & environmental sectors; principle at Water 414 in Yorba Linda, CA, a regulatory environmental consulting firm specializing in water treatment and protection. Graduate of W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University (MBA) and University of New Mexico. 


Committee:  Membership

The Membership Committee creates and implements plans for the growth and development of the Chamber’s membership. Focus is on recruiting new members and ensuring membership renewal by delivering a strong membership experience. Committee members keep an eye on who is an active Member and who is not, so that they can encourage all Chamber Members to take full advantage of the many benefits and resources the Green Chamber offers.

Seeking committee members who possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • The ability to passionately project the Chamber's Value Proposition
  • Fearlessness in asking prospective members to join
  • Availability for in-person or conference call meetings on a monthly basis

Chair: Laurel Kruke

Laurel Kruke is a Sustainability Manager for Pierce Energy Planning, where she works with school districts to better understand and lower their energy consumption, demand, and costs. Prior to starting with Pierce Energy Planning, Laurel earned her Masters of Arts in Sustainability from ASU’s School of Sustainability. Her research concentrated on what high school students know about climate change, and how they make behavioral decisions when it comes to environmental actions. This research, along with her other activities, created a spark in her to educate and engage others, at all ages and in all industries, with sustainability.

 Laurel is passionate about sustainability, and is excited to help grow the reach of the Arizona Green Chamber. Her goal is to engage as much of the Arizona population as possible in sustainability initiatives!

 

 

Committee:  Public Policy

The Policy Committee evaluates from a non-partisan perspective legislation and public policies that impact the development of a sustainable economy. The committee then articulates a position and/or educates Members and other audiences in the community about the implications thereof.

Seeking committee members who have:

  • Knowledge of land use, energy policy, green building standards, supply chain or state and local government
  • Ability to commit to 4-5 hours of volunteer time each month

Chair: Jim Buster

Jim Buster was the mayor of Yuma from 1986 to 1990, a state senator representing Yuma and La Paz counties from 1991 to 1997, a member of the Yuma County Board of Supervisors from 1997 to 1998, and director of legislative affairs for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality until his time with Avondale. Buster was first elected to the Avondale City Council in November 2005. After leaving his position with Avondale, Buster became the Director of Legislative Affairs at Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.


Co-Chair: Telpriore Gregory Tucker

Dr. Telpriore G. Tucker graduated from Tennessee State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with honors in 2006. He attained the Doctor of Chemistry with an emphasis in electrochemistry for fuel cells and batteries systems at Arizona State University, where he was named 1 of 6 most outstanding graduates for the Fall Class of 2014.

The research towards his dissertation was the utilizations of ionic liquids as the internal chemical components of low-temperature sodium-ion batteries for energy storage and non-humidified fuel cells for energy generation. 

Committee: Events

The Events Committee promotes the growth and value of the Green Chamber by facilitating the production of monthly meetings, trade shows, and educational, networking and social events.

Seeking committee members who:

  • Are organized and detail-oriented
  • Have event planning experience
  • Are able to network with local venues to obtain complimentary event space
  • Have proficiencies with Excel and Word in order to merge lists and print name badges
  • Are able to transport event materials to other Committee Chairs between events

Chair: Dr. George B. Brooks Jr.

Dr. George Benjamin Brooks Jr. holds an earned Ph.D., in Wildlife and Fisheries from the School of Renewable Natural Resources at the University of Arizona and is an established social, environmental, economic and political leader and business consultant. 
A powerful public speaker he is an award winning writer and editor with a number of scientific and popular publications including two of Phoenix’s first sustainability focused magazines, Southwest Green and NxT Horizon.

A visionary, thinker and doer, his mission is to harness the power of sustainability to solve real world problems.

Co-Chair: Tammy Bosse

Tammy Bosse is Owner & Designated Broker of Boss Properties, based in Scottsdale. Tammy is the first REALTOR in Arizona to become a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor and is a National Association of Realtors GREEN designee. She serves on the Green Chamber Greater Phoenix Board of Directors and Public Policy Committee. 

She also serves on the United States Green Building Council Residential Green Building Committee. She is a Graduate of Scottsdale Leadership and Valley Leadership, where she has served in various capacities over the years.

Chair: Mark Peterson

Mark Peterson has over 25 years of management and commercial lending experience in various financial institutions. He started his career at Continental Illinois National Bank providing commercial banking services in Miami and then in Chicago. Later in Chicago he joined BNP Paribas where he headed their Corporate Desk managing a team of bankers responsible for Fortune 500 companies in throughout the Midwest. In 1991, Peterson moved his family to Phoenix where he joined Bank of America and was involved primarily in commercial lending activities in Arizona. While there he served as a department manager for commercial lending and managed BofA’s largest sports franchise portfolio. Peterson graduated from Brigham Young University with an MBA in finance.
